History:
2000-01: Entered in July 2000 with JV and later acquisition of Narang Breweries (UP)
2002: Acquired Mysore Breweries (MBL) with 2 breweries in west and south , Rolled out Knock Out nationally
2003: Acquired Rochees Breweries in February, Formed JV with Shaw Wallace, later acquired
2006: Acquired Fosters India
2007: Launched Peroni Nastro Azzurro, a premium Italian brand, one of the top fifteen beer brands in the world in select cities
2011: Launched the iconic American beer Miller High Life and introduced the strong variants of Foster’s in key states across the country and Royal Challenge Strong in south

Investment: Since arriving in India in 2000, SABMiller has invested close to USD 800 Million.

Market Leadership & Capacity: SABMiller India has performed remarkably well in strong beer segment with brands like Haywards 5000 and Knock Out. Royal Challenge and Foster’s are also very popular in the mainstream mild segment. With 10 high quality breweries located strategically across 9 states in India, SABMiller India is well placed to service the markets quickly and efficiently with a dedicated workforce of over 2900 people. The Company’s brewery in Andhra Pradesh is India’s first brewery to have a capacity of 1.5 Million HL, which is twice the size of the second largest brewery in India. The wide sales and distribution network covering every single State in India, ensures that the company meets the expectations of the trade and consumers. The modern trade practices and transparent dealings followed by SABMiller India has ensured a long lasting partnerships with its key stakeholders, viz., customers and consumers.

Workforce: SABMiller India is well placed to service the markets quickly and efficiently with a dedicated workforce of over 3800 people.

Innovations: SABMiller India offers the widest range of pack sizes for beer in India, which includes 250 ml bottle, 330 ml bottle, 500 ml can, 650 ml bottle, 330 ml can, 50 litre draught and 30 litre draught. SABMiller India has set a new benchmark in the industry by launching beer in PET in 1 and 1.5 Litres SABMiller has also used its global expertise to create many firsts in India including the use of one-way bottles, flash pasteurized draught standards, and Haywards Black - a genuine stout beer.

Social commitment: SABMiller India has undertaken a range of citizenship initiatives. With the objective to improve the barley supply chain, SABMiller India initiated a ‘Malt Barley Development Programme’, called Saanjhi Unnati ("Progress through Partnership") in Rajasthan in the 2005. This project assists the farmers and local community in maximizing land use and securing good income. It has now grown to 27 Centres in 5 States with membership of over 7000 farmers.

SABMiller India, as a company recognizes HIV/AIDS is a major threat to the world of work. In 2007 it started its HIV/AIDS internal workplace programme jointly with International Labour Organization (ILO). The programme has been extended to supply chain (truckers). The programme so far has reached out to more than 25,000 truck drivers in high prevalent States like Rajasthan, Pondicherry, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Improving the water balance and water usage ratio is one of SABMiller India’s top Sustainable Development priorities. This is reflected in the “5R” water management strategy which has internal measures to Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and external measures to Replenish and Redistribute. SABMiller India has initiated numerous projects to conserve water resources in areas of its operations. Some of them include - Ground Water Management initiative at Neemrana, Rajasthan, Ground Water Management Strategies with Community Participation, Haryana, Sonipat, Community Water Resources Management initiative at Sangareddy, Andhra Pradesh, Water Harvesting Structures in Orissa, Water Resource Management initiatives in the Barley Belt at Chomu, Rajasthan.

Promoting responsible drinking is one of SABMiller's key sustainable development priorities. In October 2011, SABMiller India launched ‘Respect the Road' - Don't drink and drive campaign to promote responsible drinking in Gurgaon. The campaign encourages people to use alternatives to drinking and driving, such as designating a driver or calling a cab.
