Therapeutic Services
Department of Radiation Therapy offers high precision radiotherapy with low and high energy photons and electrons using CLINAC DBX and Elekta Synergy Linear Accelerators. Each patient is offered immobilization cast or blue bag or Headfix or bodyfix. Patients are planned with CT simulation followed by 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) / Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT)/ Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT)/ Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) / Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT), Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS)/Active breathing control. Précised planning (good dose to target and normal tissue sparing) is achieved through Eclipse, CMS Xio, Monaco, Ergo++ treatment planning systems.
Electrons are also used as supplementary treatment to photons or used for superficial tumors. The new techniques add the possibility of modulating the radiation intensity with single or multiple arcs. In other words our radiation oncologists and physicist are able to increase Tumor Control Probability (TCP); avoid adjacent critical structures and healthy tissues; reduce normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) and deliver safe, efficient and high quality treatment.
High dose rate Brachytherapy (Microselectron with Ir-192 source) provides intracavitary Brachytherapy for Gynaecological Carcinoma cases, intraluminal Brachytherapy for carcinoma oesophagus and bronchus cases. Interstitial Brachytherapy for soft tissue sarcomas and head and neck cancers and surface mould treatment is used in specialized situation. Individual patients are planned on Plato Sunrise planning system with CT simulation or X-ray films.
Department of Medical Oncology manages all solid tumors and hematological malignancies of adults and children. Day care facilities for chemotherapies (Normal and High Dose, including Dose–intense and Dose–dense; Infusional multiple and single drug; Bolus Chemotherapies; Targeted Therapies; Immunotherapy / Biological Therapies; Hormonal Therapies; Neutropenic Care; Nutritional Therapy; Palliative and Terminal Supportive Care); Blood transfusion and I/V fluids etc. are available. The process for starting stem cell transfusion has been started.
